Seeking Ways to Improve the Health of the Communities We Serve
The Lynn Institute continued to lead efforts in NE OKC with meetings and special events with both leaders and community residents participating. While the work was important prior to the pandemic declaration, our work became lifechanging, if not lifesaving, by supporting individuals and organizations with essential resources. Our fundraising efforts have increased and have resulted in emergency funding awards from several foundations.HCCNE OKC - Lynn continued NE OKC Foundations of Wellness programs with six community events that provided free chronic (continued on sch O) disease management and wellness lectures by health professional from SSM, INTEGRIS, Centennial Health, Community Health Centers and OCCHD. - Lynn offered Zoo4U in October 2019 and Science4U at Science Museum OK in March 2020 for vulnerable NE OKC residents. Presenters have included OCCHD, OKCPS, Commissioner Carrie Blumert, Councilwoman Nikki Nice, Centennial Health, Community Health Centers, YMCA, and many others. - The HCC Virtual Gardening series has been highly successful with more than 50 people attending each session. - Our work with Ward 7 Councilwoman, Nikki Nice, and her NE OKC Health Resource Task Force continues with efforts focused on food insecurity and distribution, health information and promotions, transportation, Census promotion, etc.CMI4K - The creation of the CMI4K web platform was completed.
