Organizations Filed Purposes:
Engaged in the management, preservation and education of the San Juan Bay Estuary as part of the National Estuary Programs created by the Clean Water Act 1987
The program objective is to improve the water quality of the San Juan Bay through the implementation of a comprehensive conservation programs and management plan.
Agreement between Unidos Por Puerto Rico (A Non-profit Organization) and SJBE for the preparation of disaster resilient hubs as well training of community leaders in skills to enhance the community response in specific community centers that addressed and are still managing emergency situations in their surrounding areas. The main objective is to reduce stressors the communities deal with on a daily basis, strengthen the centers themselves to manage emergent situations and support community preparation and response for future extreme events using a self-reliance approach. These projects addresses an immediate need, at the same times it augments resistance and response capacity for communities as head into a new hurricane season with weakened or incompetent infrastructure. The SJBE received funds for projects in Loíza, Cataño and Caimito area in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
