Waves Ahead is dedicated in working with marginalized and vulnerable sectors of Puerto Rico society by providing support in their needed order to strengthening them.
In 2020, we completed 5 homes impacted by hurricanes of 2017; completing 21 homes in total. In 2020, we impacting 10 individual with these 5 living spaces/ homes. During the early part of 2020 the program assisted more than 2,350 individuals impacted by the earthquakes in the south-western part of the country, impacting 9 municipalities. We provided food, water, camping equipment, generators, and clothing, and provided 129 individuals with short-term counseling to lower their anxiety and sadness. The same project, after the national lock-down that begun on March 16, 2020, we provided a food sustainability program by either providing them food boxes and essentials or a box with seeds and sold to grow your own personal garden at home. Over 238 individuals have received either a food box, food vouchers, or pharmacy cards, and mask, hand sanitizers, and other toiletries essentials. This work hasn't stopped yet and we will continue to do so in 2021. In addition, we provided all of our services via platforms and phone every day of the week throughout 2020 to our on going 259 participants.
We provided mental health services, yoga and meditation, music therapy and creative arts to more than 315 LGBTT and Older Adults in Puerto Rico
This supportive program assist LGBTTQ+, elderly, and women leading their household into developing their business or organization. In 2020, we provided coaching, group workshops and case management of 61 individuals.
