Organizations Filed Purposes: San Juan YMCA'S Mission is to put christian principle into practice through programs that build a Healthy Spirit, Mind and Body For All

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM: OUR YMCA IS COMMITTED TO NURTURING THE POTENTIAL OF EVERY CHILD AND TEEN. WE BELIEVE THAT ALL KIDS DESERVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DISCOVER WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY CAN ACHIEVE. THAT'S WHY WE HELP YOUNG PEOPLE TO CULTIVATE THE VALUES, SKILLS, AND RELATIONSHIPS THAT LEAD TO POSITIVE BEHAVIORS, BETTER HEALTH, AND EDUCATIONAL ACHIEVEMENT. OUR YOUTH PROGRAMS, SUCH AS CHILD CARE CENTER, SUMMER CAMP, BASKETBALL SCHOOLS/TOURNAMENTS, AFTER SCHOOL, SATURDAY COMMUNITY PROGRAMS, OFFER A RANGE OF EXPERIENCES THAT ENRICH COGNITIVE SOCIAL AND PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL GROWTH. SERVED 2,207 YOUTH AND KIDS DURING 2018. EXPENSES INCLUDE SUBSIDIES AND DIRECT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THAT ENABLE THOSE YOUNG PEOPLE IN NEED TO PARTICIPATE. WE PROVIDED $48,150 FINANCIAL ASSISTANT IN 2018

HEALTHY LIVING PROGRAM: AS AN ORGANIZATION WE BRING FAMILIES CLOSER TOGETHER, ENCOURAGE GOOD HEALTH, AND FOSTER CONNECTIONS THROUGH FITNESS, SPORTS, FUN AND SHARED INTERESTS. AS A RESULT 1,087 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THE SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED TO ACHIEVE GREATER HEALTH IN SPIRIT, MIND AND BODY. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT AS OUR ISLAND STRUGGLES WITH OBESITY CRISIS (35 % OF POPULATION), FAMILIES STRUGGLE WITH WORK/LIFE BALANCE AND INDIVIDUALS SEARCH FOR PERSONAL FULFILLMENT. OUR PROGRAMS ARE ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE AND OPEN TO ALL FAITHS, BACKGROUNDS, ABILITIES AND INCOME LEVELS. IN 2018, WE PROVIDED $10,165 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PEOPLE WHO OTHERWISE WOULD HAVE FACED ECONOMIC BARRIERS TO PARTICIPATION. WE FOSTER A SIGNIFICANT ELDERLY AND DISABLED POPULATION THROUGH OUR PHYSICAL THERAPY AND ATHLETIC PROGRAMS TO HELP THEM IMPROVE THEIR HEALTH AND QUALITY OF LIFE.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY: OUR YMCA BELIEVES IS GIVING BACK AND SUPPORTING NEIGHBORS. WE HAVE BEEN LISTENING AND RESPONDING TO OUR COMMUNITY'S MOST CRITICAL SOCIAL NEEDS FOR MORE THAN 104 YEARS. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROGRAMS, SUCH AS COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE, VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS, AMONG OTHERS ARE EXAMPLES OF HOW WE DELIVER TRAINING, RESOURCES, AND SUPPORT THAT EMPOWER OUR NEIGHBORS TO EFFECT CHANGE, BRIDGE GAPS, AND OVERCOME OBSTACLES. WE HAVE ENGAGED VOLUNTEERS IN ACTIVITIES THAT STRENGTHEN OUR COMMUNITY AND PAVE THE WAY FOR FUTURE GENERATIONS TO THRIVE. AS A RESULT, 4,180 PEOPLE IN OUR COMMUNITY ARE RECEIVING THIS SUPPORT, GUIDANCE AND RESOURCES THEY NEED. IN 2018, WE PROVIDED $17,950 IN FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
