The organization served 10,845 households with emergency assistance representing more than 23,000 individuals in Aiken County, SC in 2019. Services include food, clothing, utility and medical assistance, transportation, childcare scholarship, furniture and housewares. Over 27,106 volunteer hours were recorded. The total community impact of ACTS programs and services was over $1.87 million.
ACTS provides emergency utility assistance including utility payments, portable fans and electric heaters to families in need of supplemental assistance. When it is established that the client is qualified, utility companies are contacted to verify the bill and overdue status. Payment pledges to the utility companies are made directly so that the client does not risk being disconnected from service. Heaters and fans are provided seasonally.
ACTS operates two food programs. The senior food distribution which is one Saturday of every month serving approximately 400 seniors supplemental food (21 meals for one week). Many seniors are living on less than $800/mo. and may be deficient in meeting food, medicine, and housing expenses. The daily food pantry is open 5 days a week and serves clients that meet income and program guidelines. Clothing vouchers are issued to clients who meet income guidelines and are in need of clothing. Vouchers can be used in the ACTS resale shop Monday thru Friday from 9 to 3 and within two weeks of voucher receipt. Our program guidelines state that clothing vouchers can be provided up to 4 times a year, typically during seasonal climate changes.
