Organizations Filed Purposes:
To break the back of recidivism by providing faith-based discipleship, training, and mentoring both inside and outside prisons.
In cooperation with donors, churches, and the community, JumpStart disciples currently and formerly incarcerated people, and assists with their re-entry. Our mission is accomplished through Community Partnerships to address spiritual, educational, employment, healthcare, housing, and family relationship needs.
Rehabilitation program ongoing in 17 prisons with over 690 participants during 2019. The pandemic significantly impacted numbers in 2020, but enrollments are expected to return to normal levels within the next year. Over 5,000 participants have been through the inside prison program since inception, with 3,678 graduates on the outside. Graduates' rate of recidivism is significantly lower than the national and state averages at less than 5%.
Provision of low cost, safe, and stable housing with access to physical, mental, and dental healthcare to 78 clients during 2020, and 461 since inception. Also provided individual case management, mentoring, and financial stability training, as well as transportation to service providers, employment, and shopping, and assistance with chemical dependency as needed.
Provided job training and employment for JumpStart prison graduates participating in the transitional housing program. JumpStart has developed numerous strategic partnerships with employers that provide residents with opportunities to be hired directly or work first through the accelerator program, which functions as an employee leasing program. Participants gain valuable work training and experience. Employment included jobs in manufacturing, printing, and construction.
