Organizations Filed Purposes: TO INSPIRE THE PEOPLE OF CHARLESTON TO CONNECT WITH THEIR PARKS AND TOGETHER CREATE STUNNING PUBLIC SPACES AND A STRONG COMMUNITY.

PARK RENOVATIONS: THE PARK RENOVATIONS PROGRAM IS AIMED AT RESTORING, REJUVENATING, AND REINVENTING COMMUNITY PARKS AND GREEN SPACES BY REPLACING OUTDATED EQUIPMENT, ADDING SIGNIFICANT HORTICULTURAL FEATURES, AND REDESIGNING EXISTING PARKS FOR OPTIMAL USE. IN 2019, THE CONSERVANCY COMPLETED THE RENOVATION OF THE ROSE PAVILION AT HAMPTON PARK AND STARTED ON THE RENOVATION OF MOULTRIE PLAYGROUND.

GARDEN IN THE PARKS: THROUGH THE GARDEN IN THE PARKS PROGRAM, THE CONSERVANCY PROVIDES CARE AND MAINTENANCE TO MORE THAN 20 PARKS AND GREENSPACES. VOLUNTEERS CARE FOR AND MANAGE THESE SPACES AS IF THEY WERE THEIR OWN GARDENS. IN 2019, COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 7,911 HOURS OF SERVICE.

COMMUNITY PROGRAMMING: THE CONSERVANCY'S COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAMMING INCLUDES COMMUNITY GARDENING, ART IN THE PARK, AND MANY FREE OR LOW-COST PARK-RELATED COMMUNITY EVENTS. THROUGH THE COMMUNITY GARDENING PROGRAM, THE CONSERVANCY MAINTAINS THREE COMMUNITY GARDENS AND PROVIDES OPPORTUNITIES TO LEASE GARDEN PLOTS, LEARN TO GARDEN NATURALLY, PROVIDE FRESH FOOD FOR LOCAL FOOD BANKS, AND ADVANCE KNOWLEDGE OF THE ENVIRONMENT AND LOCAL COMMUNITY. IN 2019, THE CONSERVANCY DONATED 1,954 POUNDS OF PRODUCE TO LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES. THE ART IN THE PARK PROGRAM HOSTED AN OUTDOOR SCULPTURE INSTALLATION ON THE WEST ASHLEY GREENWAY AND ENGAGED STUDENTS FROM THE NEARBY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THE CONSERVANCY HOSTED OUTDOOR SUNDAY BRUNCHES AT THE NEWLY RENOVATED ROSE PAVILION AT HAMPTON PARK WITH ACOUSTIC MUSIC AND FOOD TRUCKS, THEMED MOVIE NIGHTS IN THE PARK WITH FREE CHILDREN'S CRAFTS AND ACTIVITIES, TEDDY BEAR PICNIC AT HAMPTON PARK, AND LIGHT THE LAKE HOLIDAY LIGHT DISPLAY AT COLONIAL LAKE WITH FOOD TRUCKS, MUSIC, AND CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES.
