The mission of SHIELD Ministries is to teach men how to think, choose, and build correctly which promotes healing; to teach life skills to help men overcome obstacles by using Christian Biblically-based principles and mentorship to promote accountability and responsibility, and to provide residential stability; of which all reduce recidivism.
Provided a men's Sustain the Change Transitional Housing Program which received 131 applications and served 80 men which included 83.8% Registered Sex-Offenders, 99.9% Past Criminal Convictions, and 13.8% Veterans. The program also includes daily educational classes, which include Brain Detox, His Way Group, Jobs for Life, Healing for Damaged Emotions, Mentoring, and Celebrate Recovery in order to assist the men as they transition back into their local community.
The Community of Hope Project consists of a building that will be a DHEC licensed facility with 85 beds. In addition, the project will provide expansion of its services to assist in crisis stabilization, regulatory compliance, life skills development, and the workforce development program to provide on-site workforce soft and hard skills training.
The organization provided workforce soft-skills training and development through Jobs for Life. The program provided workforce case management and career counseling to participants. Over 19 employer relationships were developed through the program to assist SHIELD participants in gaining meaningful employment.
