AU DIRECTLY ASSISTED 1472 INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH HIV ACCESS A RANGE OF SERVICES INCLUDING HEALTH INSURANCE ENROLLMENT/PAYMENTS, HIV AND PRIMARY MEDICAL CARE, ACCESS TO RX, REFERRALS/PAYMENT FOR ORAL HEALTH CARE, FOOD PANTRY, TRANSPORTATION TO APPTS, MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTION TREATMENT SERVICES, SUPPORT GROUPS, HOUSING, AND PREVENTION EDUCATION. INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH HIV RECEIVED MEDICAL CASE MGMT SERVICES, ASSESSMENT OF SHORT- AND LONG-TERM NEEDS AND AVAILABLE RESOURCES. PREVENTION SERVICES INCLUSIVE OF TESTING FOR HIV WAS PROVIDED TO 1672 INDIVIDUALS. PREP (PRE-EXPOSURE PROPHYLAXIS), A RX MEDICINE THAT IS CLOSELY MONITORED THROUGH LABORATORY TESTS THAT CAN SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCE THE RISK OF GETTING HIV-1 THROUGH SEX, WAS PROVIDED TO 149 INDIVIDUALS WHO ALSO RECEIVED MEDICAL AND LABORATORY SERVICES.
HOUSING SERVICES INCLUDED CASE MANAGEMENT, ASSESSMENT OF HOUSING STABILITY AND NEEDS OF INDIVIDUALS LIVING WITH HIV TO 461 INDIVIDUALS. ASSISTANCE WITH PAYMENTS FOR RENT, UTILITIES, AND MORTGAGES WAS PROVIDED TO 260 INDIVIDUALS WITH 117 OTHER BENEFICIARIES IN THE HOUSEHOLDS TO PREVENT HOMELESSNESS. HOUSING PLACEMENT WAS PROVIDED TO 42 HOUSEHOLDS IN UNSTABLE CONDITIONS THROUGH PROVIDING ASSISTANCE WITH RENTAL AND UTILITY DEPOSIT PAYMENTS. RENTAL SUBSIDY WAS PROVIDED TO 15 HOUSEHOLDS THROUGH THE TENANT BASED RENTAL PROGRAM. OPERATIONAL SUPPORT WAS PROVIDED FOR 11-BEDROOM GROUP HOME OPERATED BY AU; AND CONTACT FOR OPERATIONAL SUPPORT WITH STEPHEN'S HOUSE, A 5-BEDROOM GROUP FACILITY. A TOTAL OF TOTAL OF 32 INDIVIDUALS WERE PROVIDED FACILITY-BASED HOUSING.
AU'S PREVENTION DEPARTMENT PROVIDES HIV AND OTHER SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED INFECTION (STI) TESTING. INDIVIDUALS TESTING POSITIVE ARE LINKED TO MEDICAL CARE THROUGH REFERRAL TO MEDICAL CARE FOR TREATMENT. ALL INDIVIDUALS, POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE FOR STIS, ARE COUNSELED IN RISK REDUCTION EDUCATION. THE PREVENTION DEPARTMENT PROVIDES SCREENING/COUNSELING/REFERRALS FOR PREP. TESTING SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT ALTERNATIVE HOURS AND SITES THROUGHOUT THE AREA. IN 2019 OVER 1672 HIV TESTS WERE PROVIDED FREE OF CHARGE; MANY RECEIVED TESTING FOR OTHER STIS. CAPACITY BUILDING AND TRAINING IS PROVIDED ACROSS THE STATE TO OTHER PROVIDERS.
