Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION FOR THE PAST 40 YEARS HAS BEEN TO PROTECT "A FEW SPECIAL PLACES...IN TRUST FOR THE FUTURE." THE PLACES WE STRIVE TO PROTECT INCLUDE THE BLUE RIDGE ESCARPMENT - THE MAGNIFICENT "BLUE WALL," KEY UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA RIVERS, WATERFALLS AND RIPARIAN RESOURCES AND OTHER IMPORTANT NATURAL AREAS. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY WORKING WITH LANDOWNERS, OTHER LAND TRUSTS, GOVERNMENT AGENCIES AND FOUNDATIONS TO SECURE TITLE, CONSERVATION EASEMENTS OR OTHER PROTECTED STATUS IN PERPETUITY FOR THESE IMPORTANT NATURAL LANDS AND RESOURCES.

PERFORMING ACTIVITIES PURSUANT TO THE MAINTENANCE AND PRESERVATION OF NATURAL AREAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC.

THE FOLLOWING PARCELS WERE ACQUIRED BY PURCHASE OR RECEIVED AS A DONATION TO FURTHER THE PRESERVATION OF NATURAL AREAS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC. EXPENSES INCLUDE COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE SERVICING OF THE ASSETS, BUT NOT THE ASSET COST. THE FOLLOWING PARCELS WERE PURCHASED: 1. BOONES CREEK OCONEE BELL PRESERVE THIS PROPERTY, 40 ACRES, WAS PURCHASED TO PROTECT PLANTS AND THEIR HABITAT. 2. CHAUGA HEIGHTS 218 ACRES ADJOING CHAU RAM COUNTY PARK PURCHASED TO PROTECT THE LARGE CONTIGUOUS FOREST CONTAINING HEADWATER STREAMS AND THE FLOODPLAIN ALONG A ONE MILE STRETCH OF THE RIVER. 3. BIG ROCK LAKE RAMEY PURCHASED 12 ACRES ADJACENT TO BIG ROCK MOUNTAIN TO IMPROVE PUBLIC ACCESS TO NINE TIMES FOREST. NEW TRAILS WERE BUILT FOR HIKERS AND CLIMBERS. 4. MCKINNEY CREEK OCONEE BELL PRESERVE PURCHASED 193 ACRES TO PROTECT THE CRITICAL HABITAT FOR THE OCONEE BELL PLANT AND OTHER RARE AND ENDANGERED SPECIES. 5. GAP CREEK ACCESS TRACT THE JONES GAP ACCESS TRACT WAS PURCHASED AND IS A CORRIDOR ALONG GAP CREEK, BORDERED BY CANOPIED MOUNTAINS PROVIDES A RESPITE FROM SUMMER TEMPERATURES AND LEADS TO AN ARRAY OF UNIQUE MOUNTAIN FLORA, FAUNA AND VISTAS THAT DECADES AGO, INSPIRED THE CREATION OF JONES GAP STATE PARK. THIS PROPERTY IS A NATURAL CONTINUATION OF THE PARK.

EASEMENTS WERE PLACED ON THE FOLLOWING PARCELS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC AND DONATED: 1. CHAUGA HEIGHTS - EASEMENT GIVEN TO UPSTATE FOREVER. THE EASEMENT WAS PLACED ON THE PROPERTY BEFORE WE TRANSFER IT TO OCONEE COUNTY - VALUE 382,737. 2. OCONEE VILLAGE/TOWN - EASEMENT GIVEN TO UPSTATE FOREVER. THE EASEMENT WAS PLACED ON THE PROPERTY BEFORE WE TRANSFER IT TO SC DEPARTMENT OF PARKES & RECREATION - VAULE 67,000. PROPERTIES DONATED FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE PUBLIC: 1. CHAUGA HEIGHTS 218 ACRES - DONATED TO OCONEE COUNTY - VALUE 382,737. 2. OCONEE VILLAGE/TOWN - DONATED TO SC DEPARTMENT OF PARKS & RECREATION - VALUE 3,562. CASH GRANTS WERE GIVEN TO THE FOLLOWING: 1. UPSTATE FOREVER - 9,568
