Organizations Filed Purposes: WE'RE HERE TO EMPOWER YOUNG PEOPLE TO LEAD IMPACTFUL LIVES NOW AND TO CREATE THE UNTESTED FUTURE. THIS MEANS THAT, WHILE WE ARE A SCHOOL, OUR INTENT IS TO CONNECT TO REAL WORLD SKILLS AND OPPORTUNITIES OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL. AFTER ALL - OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL, ADULTS ARE RARELY SEGRATED BY AGE, ARE VALUED BASED ON THEIR WORK MORE THAN WRITTEN TEST; AND TYPICALLY ONLY PURSUE KNOWLEDGE THAT INTERESTS THEM OR ADVANCES THEIR CAREER. AS OUR PEERS MOVE TOWARD GRADUATION, THEY WILL BE PREPARED FOR WHATEVER LIFE AFTER SCHOOL MAY LOOK LIKE FOR THEM - IN COLLEGE, TECH SCHOOL, START- UP COMPANIES, NONPROFITS, OR AS PART OF THE WORKFORCE. THE WORLD YOUNG PEOPLE ARE INHERITING IS BIG, DIVERSE, ALWAYS-CHANGING, AND MORE CHALLENGING THAN EVER. STUDENTS AT (AND GRADUATES FROM) NEXT HIGH SCHOOL WILL BE PREPARED FOR THE UNKNOWN FUTURE BY WORKING WITH THAT FUTURE NOW; BUILDING THEIR COMMUNITIES NOW; AND MAKING AN IMPACT NOW.

TO PREPARE YOUNG PEOPLE FOR LIFE BY SPARKING INTEREST, DRIVING INQUIRY, AND EMPOWERING IMPACT - IN AND OUT OF SCHOOL.

THE PURPOSE FOR WHICH THE SCHOOL IS ORGANIZED IS TO OPERATE A CHARTER SCHOOL IN SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO ENGAGE IN ANY OTHER ACTIVITY PERMISSIBLE; IT IS TO ENSURE THAT HIGH QUALITY EDUCATION IS ACCESSIBLE TO ALL CHILDREN REGARDLESS OF ECONOMIC STATUS OR BACKGROUND.

THE SCHOOL HAS TWO SITES, ONE IN GREENVILLE, SC AND THE OTHER IN SALEM, SC. BEING A PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL THE SCHOOL SERVES THE LOCAL COMMUNITY AND IS REPRESENTATIVE OF THAT AREA. THE GREENVILLE CAMPUS HAS A MIXED-RACE DEMOGRAPHIC OF STUDENTS WHO ARE ENERGIZED BY A CURRICULUM WHEREBY THE STUDENT HAS TO TAKE CO-OWNERSHIP IN ORDER TO SUCCEED. THE SALEM CAMPUS IS COMPRISED PRIMARILY OF RURAL, ECONOMICALLY CHALLENGED FAMILIES WHO WANT THIER CHILDREN EDUCATED LOCALLY WITH THE HOPE THAT THEIR CHILDREN WILL BE ABLE TO BECOME UPWARDLY MOBILE.

THE CURRICULUM IS BASED ON A CONCEPT KNOWN AS IMPACT-BASED LEARNING THROUGH THE TENNANTS OF INTEREST, INQUIRY AND IMPACT. IMPACT-BASED LEARNING IS SIMILAR TO PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN THAT STUDENTS MAKE A PRACTICAL APPLICATION OF WHAT THEY LEARN IN CLASS; HOWEVER, WITH IMPACT-BASED LEARNING THE STUDENT'S CORE STUDIES AND ELECTIVES ARE RESOURCES THAT HELP DRIVE ALONG AN INTEREST, THROUGH ACADEMIC AND PRACITCAL INQUIRY, INTO SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE COMMUNITY IMPACT, SUCH AS A BUSINESS, NONPROFIT, OR COMMUNITY PROJECT. IN MANY CASES STUDENTS WILL HAVE CREATED THEIR OWN EMPLOYMENT BEFORE GRADUATING FROM HIGH SCHOOL. OTHER STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE REFINING THEIR INTEREST AS THEY MOVE INTO HIGHER EDUCATION.
