IS A NON-PROFIT CHILDREN'S HOME AND FAMILY SERVICE ORGANIZATION, LICENSED BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL SERVICES (SCDSS) AND ACCREDITED BY COUNCIL ON ACCREDITATION (COA), WHOSE MISSION IS TO SUPPORT CHILDREN AND THEIR FAMILIES IN CRISIS THROUGH RESIDENTIAL, EDUCATIONAL, AND OUTREACH SERVICES.

YEAR ROUND SERVICE IS PROVIDED FOR UP TO 68 CHILDREN BETWEEN THE AGES OF 7 AND 21 IN OUR CAMPUS PROGRAM PROVIDING AN ARRAY OF PROGRAMS AND SERVICES TAILORED TO THE NEEDS OF OUR CHILDREN. OUR SERVICES INCLUDE LIFE SKILL TRAINING, COUNSELING, MENTORING, THE ARTS, SPORTS, FAMILY RELATIONSHIP GROWTH AND PREPARATION FOR PERMANENCY. MUCH OF THIS IS ACCOMPLISHED THROUGH INDIVIDUAL GOAL SETTING WITH PERMANENCY AND FAMILY REUNIFICATION AS THE ULTIMATE GOAL. WHEN ACCEPTED BY THE FAMILY, AFTERCARE SERVICES ARE UTILIZED TO ASSIST WITH THE TRANSITION FROM OUR CAMPUS PROGRAM TO THEIR FOREVER HOME, INCREASING THE SUCCESSFUL OUTCOME OF REUNIFICATION OR ADOPTION.

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

THE PENNSYLVANIA CHILDREN'S CENTER ON THE TAMASSEE DAR SCHOOL CAMPUS IS APPROVED BY SC FIRST STEPS AS A 4 YEAR KINDERGARTEN PROVIDER, AND PARTICIPATES IN THE ABC VOUCHER PROGRAM. THE CENTER PROVIDES A NURTURING, EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT FOR CHILDREN FROM BIRTH TO AGE 12. THE 4K PROGRAM SERVES UP TO 10 CHILDREN AND OPERATES IN ALIGNMENT WITH THE LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT. BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE IS PROVIDED FOR SCHOOL-AGED CHILDREN, AS WELL AS SUMMER ENRICHMENT THROUGHOUT THE DAY.
