Escaping their abusers is the priority for domestic violence victims. However, unless they have their own vehicles, public transportation is not always an option for many victims due to safety concerns. Ridesharing and Uber are not always an option either for victims that lack a phone or credit card, or fear their abuser will discover the transaction details. Transporting victims to arrive to shelter, or leave for family outside the local area, is beyond the scope of most domestic violence shelter agencies. Families to Freedom bridges that gap by providing no-cost, long-distance transportation for victims to arrive to shelters across North Texas or get to a family home across the country.
