THE GOAL OF AAFAME IS TO PROMOTE PROFESSIONALISM FOR MAINTENANCE ENGINEERS THROUGH EDUCATION AND TRAINING.
36 informative training & luncheon programs conducted by industry professionals with informative topics related to building maintenance improvement for over 2,100 attendees.Conducted over 40 committee meetings attended by volunteer members committed to the professionalism and advancement of AAFAME. 44 members participated in the Incentive Program (57% increase since previous year) to qualify for free dues & luncheons in 2019. This program has helped to increase the involvement of engineer members in committee activities & ultimately in a leadership role. Last year at our annual planning session, AAFAME identified a need for entry-level individuals in our industry so we created the Career Outreach Task Force with the mission of attracting individuals to this industry and help them get some minimal skills that would jump start them into a career. We continue to develop possible apprenticeships & relationships with various stakeholders that can help us fill that gap for applicants. We realized a 12% growth in membership ending the year with 560 members which includes a record number 335 building & facility engineers.Conducted a membership survey to determine the benefits most important to our members. We received a 26% response rate with 95% of the respondents indicating they are satisfied with AAFAME offerings. We created a new modern logo to be launched in 2019. We voted on the new logo as a committee to ensure it represented AAFAME and its membership accurately. We filmed our first ever professional video about AAFAME to be launched in early 2019 featuring interviews by real members & sponsors about their experience in AAFAME.The 5th Annual ARCH (AAFAME Recognition of Champions) Award was presented at the Joint Luncheon with BOMA Austin held in March 2018 at the Austin Country Club with 300+ in attendance. The winners picture was printed in an issue of the Austin Business Journal. Awarded the AAFAME Volunteer Star to 23 key members at our monthly luncheons who went above and beyond the call of duty while volunteering for AAFAME. Awarded 5 scholarships to be used towards an SMA Designation. AAFAME has awarded $36,000 towards designation scholarship since 2009.This year we awarded $1,500 in scholarships as part of our AAFAME Education Advancement Scholarship program for members and their children who are attending college/university programs. Total to date awarded is $143835. 20% of our building engineer members maintain a BOMI (RPA, SMA, FMA) or LEED Designation. AAFAME continues to promote the BOMI Designation & Certificate programs as an avenue for our building engineer members to enhance their career potential.Over 1,000 industry professionals attended our signature event the 26th Annual Chili Slam held at Krieg Field in April 2018.
