Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Equal Justice Center's mission is to empower low-income workers, families, and communities so workers can achieve fair treatment in the workplace and in the justice system, regardless of their immigration status. Most significant activities consist of legal assistance and advocates for legal and economic fairness for low-income individuals and communities.
Low-income employment program is a civil rights and employment rights program which provides legal assistance to help low-income working men and women to recover their unpaid wages and protect their basic employment rights. We served approximately 1,188 working people, of which approximately 126 were represented in court and/or administrative proceedings.
Deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) provides relief from the deportation for young people, whose parents are undocumented, who have grown up in the United States. Equal Justice Center organizes workshops across Texas to assist low-income young people in applying for legal relief.
Legal aid for survivors of sexual assault (LASSA)is a multi-organization legal aid network from survivors of sexual assault. The role of Equal Justice Center within the LASSA network is to provide employment-related legal expertise to combat sexual harassment and other forms of sexual violence at work and to ensure access to safe and supportive employment for survivors irrespective of where the sexual assault occurred.
