PROSPER CENTER PROGRAMS-TAX HELP, HEALTH COVERAGE, FINANCIAL WELLNESS & COLLEGE HUB Prosper Center's Tax Help program provided free income tax return preparation services for low-income taxpayers that received $36.3 million in tax refunds. More than 600 volunteers prepared over 21,000 tax returns. 5,073 people enrolled in health insurance, claiming $46.1 million in premium tax credits. More than 1,100 people participated in financial coaching or completed money management classes. 521 college students received $2 million in Pell grants and $61,000 in scholarships. 118 clients deposited to savings accounts with matching funds to be used for post-secondary education or home purchase. Nearly 200 residents received $171,000 in emergency rent or utility assistance funds and 65 residents enrolled in a new program designed to improve their credit scores.
LEARNING IN A COMMUNITY851 children took part in free after-school and summer learning center programs including pre-literacy, elementary and teen programs, with 100% of students being promoted to next grade level; 351 adults attended ESL classes. Adults are provided with onsite ESL, financial literacy, exercise and healthy living classes.
