Organizations Filed Purposes:
Salvage Vanguard Theater (SVT) serves as a hub for Austin artists, audiences, and arts organizations. SVT creates and presents transformative, high-quality artistic experiences that foster experimentation and conservation.
In 2019, SVT hosted one fundraising event, five developmental workshop productions, one development retreat, and two mainstage productions. Through our Works Progress Austin Series, we supported new work featuring Eva Suter's Birkskin (Feb 23), Henna Chou's Slow Roll (June 22), Gricelda Silva's High Art Sht (Aug 31), Jay Byrd's Fumbling for the Knob (Dec 20), and Adrienne Dawes Casta (Dec 22). We hosted a development retreat for Diana Lynn Smalls new work, house play (May 23-27). Our spring mainstage show was Antigonick by Anne Carson (March21-April 6). Our fall mainstage production was the Three Headed Festival (Oct 17-27) featuring three new solo performances by Kriston Woodreaux (brutal IMAGINATION), Kelsey Oliver (pp), and Crystal Bird Caviel (SICK/Lionheart). We also held our annual Amplify Austin fundraising event on Feb 28. Additionally we co-produced events with sponsored organizations Frank Wo men, RAS Day, Trouble Puppet, and Church of the Friendly Ghost.
