Organizations Filed Purposes: The W. Oscar Neuhaus Memorial Foundation ("Neuhaus") is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational foundation dedicated to promoting reading success for all. Neuhaus provides evidence-based training and support to educators and district leaders, supplies information and resources to families, and offers direct services to adult learners. Its services are offered in a variety of ways, including mentoring, individual instruction, online programming, and on-site courses.

Neuhaus provides evidence-based professional development to educators, provides information and resources to families, and offers direct services to adult learners. During 2019 and 2018, respectively, 4,046 and 3,517 teachers were trained on-site, online, and through distance learning opportunities, which represents 6,898 and 5,768 enrollments during 2019 and 2018, respectively. In 2019, Neuhaus Family Support Office received 3,261 contacts from parents and family members concerned about dyslexia and reading difficulties in their children. Free Parent Information Presentations on reading difficulties, especially dyslexia, multisensory, research-based literacy instruction, and the Texas dyslexia legislation occur monthly. The Collie Library and the Pi Beta Phi Audio-Visual Library at Neuhaus lend library materials locally. Neuhaus also hosts Fridays@Neuhaus, which are educational seminars for parents and professionals presented by Neuhaus instructional staff and guest speakers and College Share, which provides information to college-bound students with learning differences, their parents, and professionals. Lastly, College Panel is a presentation by college students with learning differences where the panelists talk about their college experiences and share their success stories.

Neuhaus closely monitors current research on reading instruction and reading disorders for findings to be incorporated into its instructional programs. This commitment to providing the most up-to-date, scientifically researched methods is what makes Neuhaus unique in its field and ensures that teachers and students are offered the most effective programs available. The Teacher Professional Development Program consists of approximately thirty classes in the areas of Phonemic Awareness; Instant Letter Recognition; Sequencing and Decoding Skills; Listening/Reading Comprehension; Scientific Spelling; Multisensory Handwriting, Grammar, Syntax, and Paragraph Structure; and Oral Language Development. Also, teachers are offered classes on how to apply the results of various intervention studies on metacognitive skills, language enrichment, and literacy for their readers.
