TerraMica works to stabilize vulnerable communities in Central America, to cultivate hope for a viable future, and create a better local life through meaningful education and impactful projects. We are a humanitarian aid organization that executes community development work with the goal of establishing dignity and stability for impoverished families. In 2019, TerraMica developed a comprehensive educational program for impoverished families and established the My Healthy Home program:My Healthy Home:1. Equip and train impoverished families on how to change generational behaviors in the arenas of physical health, relationships, faith, and their environment through our educational curriculum.2. Rebuild the physical home environment to a healthy and safe status. In addition to building and/or improving the physical household infrastructure, TerraMica provides a local facilitator-led training program for farming families in coffee growing regions. This training program focuses on modifying attitudes and behaviors around personal, family, faith, and environmental well-being, including disease prevention strategies and management of household and community resources, leading to an improved outlook on life, in addition to personal, family, and community transformation. We built pila water tanks, cement floors, roofs were installed, and we began our training program with families, all impacting 11 communities and about 3,300 people in Central America.TerraMica established a powerful partnership with local government leaders in Intibuca, Honduras for a significant expansion of our My Healthy Home program throughout Honduras in 2021, with a goal to reaching and additional 4,000 people. In Siguatepeque, we worked with local leaders and churches to develop a park serving 2,800 poor local families. The park includes a cement basketball court, a large playground, trees, 2 soccer fields, benches, and pergolas for group meetings. We developed a partnership in Colombia to establish a foundation for expansion of our My Healthy Home program in 2021 or early 2022 into city slums with the goal of impacting 500 displaced coffee farming families and migrants.
