THE BRAZORIA COUNTY DREAM CENTER (BCDC) PROVIDES AVENUES OF HEALING TO THE SOULS OF HURTING HUMANITY IN BRAZORIA COUNTY, TX. WE ADDRESS BOTH THE PHYSICAL AND EMOTIONAL NEEDS OF THE COMMUNITY. WE ACCOMPLISH THIS BY FOCUSING ON REBUILDING HOPE, RENEWING LIVES, AND RESTORING DREAMS.
Dream Pantry provides individuals and families with food and non-food assistance according to the number of household members. The Dream Pantry is a "client Choice" pantry where members can select the specific food and non-food items for their family unit. During 2019, we distributed approximately $1,341,000 of in-kind goods to 2,369 unique households and 6,744 unique individuals. Total of 30,922 food and non-food items were donated with a Fair Market Value of $428,537.
Backpack Buddies Program provides backpacks with nutritional food and snacks to children who are facing food insecurity over the weekend. The program is based on referrals from the student's teacher, counselor or nurse who identifies the children in need of assistance. Backpacks are distributed by volunteer liaisons to the school Counselors to be distributed on Fridays so the students can have a nutrition food to eat for the weekend. Total of $419,669 of in-kind goods were distributed in 2019 in 30 schools and 6 school districts in Brazoria County.
Back to school Bash provided low - moderate income children who live in Brazoria County with the items needed to start school. Children receive backpacks with school supplies, clothes, new tennis shoes, haircuts, personal care kits, and first week of lunches. During 2019, $37,901 in in-kind goods were distributed through this program to 719 students.
