Organizations Filed Purposes: The purpose of CBCIL is to provide educational, training, supportive and consultant services which assist communities in achieving universal accessibility and inclusion of persons with disabilities to assist persons with disabilities increase self-determination and minimize dependence on others through services which are directed, developed, and delivered by and for persons with disabilities.

Served 631 consumers .Assistance provided to allow individuals community-based living, prevention of institutionalization and to reside in a setting of their choice empowers people to make personal decisions related to the delivery of personal assistance and respite services within their current home and community-based program information and referral programs. Also provided health and social services to the diverse populations of culturally diverse groups, individuals with disabilities of all ages, cross disabilities, those who are aging and individuals with limited English proficiency. Services provided also enabled individuals to maintain or increase their independence and included such things as hearing aids, repairs to electric wheelchairs, lift recliners, durable medical equipment, and referrals to other funding sources for items not covered.

Provided 111 consumers with housing subsidy assistance. Assistance provided accessible home modifications, ramp builds, and provided subsidized rental assistance for consumers in the Coastal Bend area, including increased assistance to those impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

Provided 170 consumers with transportation assistance. Assistance provided to consumers in both rural and urban settings. Transportation assistance includes, but is not limited to employment, medical appointments, church, grocery store and other activities of daily living. Transportation programs also assisted Hurricane Harvey impacted consumers to provide transportation to assist with housing searches, replacement of identity documents and other items destroyed during the hurricane or secure services needed because of loss during the hurricane.
