VOICE implemented 5 youth substance abuse prevention programs and 1 community coalition program to almost 7,900 participants. Success is defined as a change in behaviors and attitudes toward the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs as measured by pre and post tests.
The agency's family-focused program, the Strengthening Families Program, serves parents and youth who are at a higher risk for substance use and misuse. For FY 2020, 85% of the participants showed a change in behaviors and attitudes toward substance use and misuse. Additionally, the families developed skills to increase bonding and solve problems.
Project Towards No Drug Abuse is a program that targets youth between the ages of 14 to 19 who have educational and behavioral difficulties in school and have already begun to experiment with alcohol, tobacco, or other drugs. For FY 2020, participants in the program showed a success rate of 83%.
The Curriculum-Based Support Groups program, which serves youth in Kindergarten through 8th grade experiencing some educational and behavioral obstacles in school, posted a success rate of 91% for FY 2020.
