To provide those who are deaf and hard of hearing the means to ensure advancement through education, economic security and good health.
Communication: DAC's interpreting department has a staff of certified sign language interpreters available to provide critical communication accessibility 24 hours a day. Communication services are provided to entities who need to communicate with their consumers who are deaf or hard of hearing. Communication services also include Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) and Communication Access Real-time translators (CART). The interpreting department is dedicated to delivering equal communication access for the deaf and hard of hearing community.
Hard-of-Hearing and Late Deafened Support - Losing your hearing can be an isolating experience especially for heard of hearing or late-deafened individuals. Our Deaf and Hard of Hearing Technology Specialists provide individualized case management to provide exactly what you need, be it: technology assistance, education and/or coping strategies to those living with hearing loss of any degree. Clients can visit our technology center to personally browse and test various assistive devices to determine the most effective device for their workplace or social needs.
Senior Citizens Program: DAC's Senior Citizen Center provides daily activities to deaf and hard of hearing older adults. These activities include wellness checks, social activities, educational classes and hot nutritious meals. DC provides free transportation services for seniors participating in DAC's senior citizen program. The program also provides INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICES to SENIORS AND THEIR FAMILY MEMBERS ABOUT VARIOUS AGENCIES, SUPPORT GROUPS, MEDICAL FACILITIES AND OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES AVAILABLE TO THEM.
