Organizations Filed Purposes: Mission: Together, we unleash greatness within artisans + their communities by crafting ethical lifestyle products that cultivate holistic empowerment and opportunity.

EMPLOYEE EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM: We equip artisan women + men with dignified employment opportunities that ultimately equip them to uplift themselves, their families and their communities. In 2019 we employed 85 artisans and staff members in the coastal region of Kenya. Not only do we stive to pay a consistent, fair and transparent wage, we alo provide practical training, education, mentorship and community. We have transitioned from a simple sewing training program to a fully integrated socio-economic empowerment program that cares holistically about our people. We desire to see the generational cycle of poverty broken through the transformation of our women. A new wool spinning program was added to our Empowerment initiatives in 2019 and 10 women were hired and trained under this program. Bringing our wool spinning in-house contributed to wool supply cost savings, which increases our margins and helps us move closer towards achieving our sustainability goals.

CHILDCARE & SCHOOL SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM: At Imani Collective we believe that children are the future and therefore believe in investing in them. We provide a structured program for artisans children to attend during the day while parents work, which includes themed curriculum, field trips, English courses, primary school entrance test preparation, creative crafts and more. We provide in-house childcare which cared for 24 children in 2019. In 2019 we provided 55 child tuition sponsorships. These covered school tuition fees for artisan children. We do this while at the same time providing budget and financial planning training so that parents are prepared to cover additional fees like books and uniforms.

FOOD/HOLISTIC PROGRAMS + Literacy Classes: We provide daily well-balanced meal and tea breaks for artisans and their kids enrolled in our childcare program. In 2019 19,000 meals were served. We continued our hime visits. In 2019 we did twice-per-month trips to visit artisans and their families, where we check in and present a love offering gift bag. We continued to provide English weekly literacy classes taught at both workshop locations by a professional English teacher. In 2019 3640 hours of literacy classes was taught. We continued our RISE personal development (Realize Internal Self Excellence), a character-building program hosted once per week at each location. As always, special events such as monthly artisan, employee and childrens birthday celebrations continued, in addition to holiday parties, team building outings and an end-of-year celebration.
