Music changing lives in North Texas and beyond through unforgettable performances, inspired collaborations, exceptional mentoring of musicians and inclusive community outreach.
Education Programs: LSWO Offers development programs for young band members seeking additional challenges. The Lone Star Youth Winds, with 70 members, had one performance after weeks of professionally condensed rehearsals and master classes. The program reaches over 1,200 students and audience members. The St Philips Percussion Ensemble is a twice-weekly after school percussion program that serves fifty students from South Dallas. Students perform throughout the community and in Dallas Arts District Venues. The LSWO also offers 4 exceptional high school band seniors a Music Changing Lives Scholarship ($1000 each) through a competitive application process.
Band Programs: LSWO Performed Four (4)in-person concerts during the 2019-2020 season, as well as initiating Global Ensemble Virtual Concerts in April-May 2020 in response to the COVID pandemic. LSWO reached 2,500 attendees in-person, and had over 350,000 virtual video views of its Global Ensemble Virtual Concert productions.
