ICDC was formed for the purpose of promoting the expansion of adequate, affordable neighborhood housing and employment opportunities for low and moderate income residents of the South Dallas/Fair Park area.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Spring Plaza Business Complex, a 21,000 sf community-based retail, business and office facility housing Business Incubator space, which was 60 leased up at year end Commercial Tenants, including the Prism Health Pharmacy which grand opening was held in October 2019 the Home Ownership Center classroom facilities and the headquarters of ICDC. The 4915 Brashear South Dallas Training Center operates in partnership with Dallas County Community College District to provide access to short-term training and career opportunities for area residents with training in ESL, GED, Construction, Cloud Support Engineer, Office Generalist, Logistics and Masonry. 27 students completed 2 training classes for Amazon Web Services Cloud Engineer. The 4922 Spring Ave. Prism Health N. TX South Dallas Clinic provides state of the art medical care, research, counseling and more. Spring Avenue commercial revitalization in progress.
HOUSING PROGRAM SERVICES - Through the ICDC Homeownership Center in 2019 four 4 affordable home properties were completed and sold, and two 2 were awaiting closing during the first quarter of 2020. During 2019 the Home Ownership Center had 154 telephone/internet inquiries, counseled 36 new and 19 existing clients, providing 112 one on one counseling hours, with 3 homes under contract and 2 homes going through construction phase.
