ST. PAUL MEDICAL FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO ADVANCING, THROUGH PHILANTHROPY, EXCELLENT AND INNOVATIVE PATIENT CARE AT UT SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, OR ITS SUCCESSOR, PRESERVING THE RELIGIOUS HERITAGE OF THE HOSPITAL AND PROMOTING THE ROLE OF RELIGION IN MEDICINE. ST. PAUL HOSPITAL CLOSED IN DECEMEBER 2014. UT SOUTHWESTERN CLEMENTS UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IS ITS SUCCESSOR.
THE PURPOSES ARE TO ADVANCE, THROUGH PHILANTHROPY, EXCELLENT AND INNOVATIVE PATIENT CARE AND TO PROMOTE AND SUPPORT SCIENTIFIC, EDUCATIONAL, CHARITABLE, RELIGIOUS AND RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF THE PATIENTS, PROGRAMS AND FACILITIES OF UT SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL, OR ITS SUCCESSOR.
DURING 2015, GRANTS WERE FUNDED TO SUPPORT VARIOUS PROGRAMS AT UT SOUTHWESTERN. THESE INCLUDED ENDOWED CHAIR DISTRIBUTIONS (CARPENTER, HAYES AND JENEVEIN), HONORING HIGHLY-REGARDED PHYSICIANS, AND PROVIDED THE HOLDERS OF THE CHAIRS WITH INCOME USED FOR EDUCATIONAL, RESEARCH AND/OR CLINICAL PURPOSES. ADDITIONAL DONATIONS ALSO FUNDED THE ACTIVITY OF TWO RESEARCH PROJECTS, ONE STROKE AND ONE HEART, AND A NEW PROCEDURE CALLED TRANSCATHETER AORTIC VALVE REPLACEMENT (TAVR), A NEW OPTION FOR INOPERABLE PATIENTS FROM PARKLAND MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.
KEEPING ITS LONG-STANDING COMMITMENT TO THE UNDERSERVED, THE FOUNDATION PROVIDED GRANTS TO SUBSIDIZE OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING EXPENSES AS NEEDED, FOR OUTPATIENTS AND INPATIENT FAMILY MEMBERS AND FUNDED VARIOUS NEEDS OF PATIENTS SUCH AS PRESCRIPTION DRUG COSTS OR MEDICAL SUPPLIES.
ALLOCATIONS AND GRANTS FOR EDUCATION PURPOSES FUNDED SEMINARS FOR FRIENDS OF THE HEART, LUNG AND VASCULAR PROGRAM; AND UNDERWROTE SPEAKING FEES FOR PHYSICIANS' SEMINARS. ALLOCATIONS FOR THE CHAPEL AT UT SOUTHWESTERN CLEMENTS UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL. FUNDED SERVICES AND SUPPLIES ASSOCIATED WITH RELIGIOUS SERVCIES.
