Organizations Filed Purposes:
TEXAS ONCOLOGY FOUNDATION IS ORGANIZED EXCLUSIVELY FOR RELIGIOUS, CHARITABLE, SCIENTIFIC, LITERARY, AND EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES, INCLUDING, FOR THE PURPOSE OF MAKING DISTRIBUTIONS TO ORGANIZATIONS THAT QUALIFY AS EXEMPT ORGANIZATIONS UNDER SECTION 501(C)(3) OF THE INTERNAL REVENUE CODE OF 1986 AND THE REGULATIONS PROMULGATED THEREUNDER, AS PRESENTLY CONSTITUTED AND HEREAFTER AMENDED.
THE ORGANIZATION INTENDS TO OPERATE FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONDUCTING CANCER RESEARCH, PATIENT AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND SUPPORT, AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE.
Patient Support: The Patient Assistance program is in place to assist those currently going through cancer treatment with additional living expenses they may have. An application process has been set in place to determine eligibility for financial assistance, based upon the applicants current medical condition and financial need. We currently have active funds in 12 communities.
Symposiums: The Survive & Thrive Symposiums exists to bring together cancer survivors, loved ones, caregivers and healthcare providers to create a dialogue around the survivorship experience. We bring in national and regional experts to discuss a variety of topics that touch all involved in the cancer journey. This is typically a day long program designed to allow attendees to not only grow their understanding in these survivorship areas through lecture/discussion but also through experiences. We have held 8 symposiums since 2016. Nearly 1,400 people have been reached through the Survive & Thrive Symposiums!
Disaster Relief: The disaster relief fund was established to help Hurricane Harvey victims with short-term financial assistance. The Foundation awards one-time grants up to $5,000. If additional needs are identified, additional assistance is available. 21 applicants have been approved since 2017.
