Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO REDUCE THE HUMAN AND ECONOMIC EFFECT OF CANCER ON THE CITIZENS OF EL PASO COUNTY THROUGH THE FINANCIAL SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT OF EFFECTIVE PROGRAMS FOR ADVOCACY, EDUCATION, EARLY DETECTION, AND OTHER SERVICES TO CANCER PATIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES.
THE PATIENT ASSISTANCE PROGRAM PROVIDES FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO PHYSICIAN-REFERRED PATIENTS IN THE FORM OF A PREPAID VISA CARD. THE ASSISTANCE IS DESIGNATED FOR VARIOUS NECESSITIES RELATED TO THEIR CANCER DIAGNOSIS, WHICH INCLUDES TRAVEL, TREATMENTS, CO-PAYMENTS, DIAGNOSTICS, AND OTHER RELATED NEEDS. APPROXIMATELY 550 PATRONS WERE SERVED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM DURING 2019.
THE FOUNDATION PROVIDES EDUCATIONAL SUPPORT THROUGH THE SURVIVE AND THRIVE PROGRAM, WHICH INCLUDES A FOUNDATION AUTHORED 6-WEEK SUPPORT GROUP MODULE DESIGNED TO EMPOWER THE CANCER SURVIVOR BEYON THE DIAGNOSIS. APROXIMATELY 700 PEOPLE WERE SERVED DURING 2019 THROUGH SUPPORT GROUP SESSIONS. GRIEF SUPPORT WORKSHOPS ARE HELD QUARTERLY WITH AN AVERAGE ATTENDANCE OF 12 - 15 PEOPLE AT EACH SESSION. THE MEN'S INITATIVE BRINGS AWARENESS TO THE COMMUNITY ABOUT PROSTATE AND TESTICULAR CANCER. THE SUNSCREEN INITIATIVE PROVIDES SUNSCREEN DISPENSERS FOR THE CITY OF EL PASO PARKS AND OTHER PUBLIC GATHERING PLACES. THE FOUNDATION PUBLISHES A MONTHLY ONLINE MAGAZINE TITLED "IN THE KNOW", WHICH FOCUSES ON CANCER AWARENESS FOR A DESGINATED CANCER OF THE MONTH. ARTICLES, RECIPES, RESOURCES, AND VITAL INFORMATION ARE PROVIDED AT THE WWW.RGCF.ORG WEBSITE, ON FACEBOOK, AND ON OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS. THE GREEN HOUSE RESOURCE LIBRARY IS A COLLECTION OF OVER 8,000 BOOKS AND RELATED MATERIALS WHICH IS HOUSED AT THE EL PASO PUBLIC LIBRARY. THROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE LIBRARY, THE FOUNDATION HOSTS A DESIGNATED GREEN HOUSE SECTION OF CANCER LITERATURE AT EACH OF THE 13 LOCAL LIBRARY LOCATIONS.
THE FOUR SEASONS BEAUTY PROGRAM PROVIDES PRACTICAL ASSISTANCE AND SERVICES TO CANCER PATIENTS, INCLUDING WIGS, SUPPORT GARMENTS AND LYMPHEDEMA ASSISTANCE. ALL SERVICES ARE PROVIDED AT NO CHARGE. APPROXIMATELY 1,300 CANCER PATIENTS WERE ASSISTED THROUGH THIS PROGRAM DURING 2019.
