Organizations Filed Purposes: We serve children with special needs and their families with customized, sensory-based programs to maximize developmental potential leading to independence and inclusion.

It's a Sensory World, Inc. provides a safe, affordable, and multi-sensory environment that is educational, recreational, and therapeutic for children with special needs who are purposefully included in the community.

Education - We had 59 students enrolled in ISW Academy in the 2019-20 school year (compared to 49 in 2018-19). We continued to collect outcomes data. We transitioned 18 students to other programs. For the 3rd year in a row, 4 students received partial scholarships via the Griffin Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund. During the COVID-19 pandemic, our center was able to stay open since we are a licensed daycare center in the state of Texas. About 30% of students who do not benefit from online instruction were served at our center from March to May of the school year. Our teachers rapidly retooled to serve the remaining 70% via distance learning. We delivered the curriculum weekly to those who were participating online, and we reworked our procedures to keep our center safe and sanitary to those attending in person. We successfully concluded our school year with a Hawaiian-themed drive-through parade.

Recreation - Many programs, like Sensory Circuits, Acceptional Sports, and Interactive Kids, were rejuvenated and saw increased enrollment this year. However, they had to be canceled starting March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the pandemic, we were able to offer 8 weeks of camps during the summer with a reduced enrollment of ~ 36-40 students (about half the usual number) so that we could maintain social distancing standards recommended by the CDC and HHS. Around 300 people participated in our community events, Boo Bash, and Winter Wonder World.

Therapy - Since many of the ISW Academy students are at our center all day, we collaborated with their private therapists who provided speech therapy, occupational therapy, and ABA at our center. This is extremely helpful to carry-over their therapeutic goals into the classroom. We incurred insignificant costs related to these activities during the year.
