Organizations Filed Purposes: OUR MISSION IS TO SERVE COMMUNITIES OF NORTH TEXAS BY PROVIDING QUALITY PROGRAMS THAT FOSTER THE EMOTIONAL, SOCIAL AND EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILIES. WE SERVE APPROXIMATELY 6,700 CHILDREN PER YEAR THROUGH ENRICHING CHILDCARE SERVICES AND AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS.During Fiscal 2020, the organization was impacted by school closures resulting from the Covid pandemic, which shut down 100% of Claytons programs in March of 2020 with a few sites reopening prior to the end of the fiscal period (June 30) and experiencing a very low enrollment (less than 50 IN-PERSON overall).

Licensed Child Care programs (school age): providing high quality state-licensed before and after school care and all-day holiday camps to approx. 2,900 children and their families per year. We provide a safe and structured environment for elementary-age children so that families can work or attend school. Financial aid scholarships are offered for weekly program fees to those in need, and no child is turned away due to inability to pay. Annual fundraising efforts help to support our financial assistance awards. We also partner to operate an early childhood preschool daycare for the One Safe Place social justice center. School-based licensed-fee programs were closed in March 2020 due to school closures resulting from the Covid pandemic and did not reopen until the following school year, after fiscal year end on 6/30. The full-day program at One Safe Place was temporarily closed at the onset of the pandemic and soon reopened providing child-care services to first responders and professionals in need of daily child care. At that time, participation remained low (less than 30 youth, ranging from infant to school-age). This year we served 2,912 kids through mid-March 2020.

Grant-funded Afterschool programs: providing comprehensive on-campus afterschool experiences for approx. 3,000 youth each year. Programs are funded through school districts, crime prevention efforts, and state-wide 21st Century Community Learning Center awards. Children are targeted for the program based on high academic and social need. These programs are no-cost to families, and seek to assist in juvenile crime prevention and increasing math and literacy outcomes for students.In-school grant programs were shut down at the onset of school closures due to Covid, however, Clayton continued to reach out to the children in the community by distributing activity kits and providing online activities and access to Claytons enrichment and social and emotional learning programs, funded through TEAs 21st Century grant. Clayton was able to operate one half-day enrichment camp during the summer serving the children at Western Hills Elementary at a nearby community center, also funded through the 21st Century CLC grant from TEA. This year we served 2,334 kids through mid-March 2020.

Contracted Childcare: providing special childcare and early learning opportunities to young children for community organizations seeking childcare services for their clients. We provide day, evening and weekend childcare services (for ages 3 months to 12 years) to two private recreational facilities, and one charter school (for after-school youth enrichment programs for school-aged students). Due to Covid, contracted sites were closed, consequently causing Claytons contracted services to cease. Two recreational facilities (country clubs) reopened in early summer and Clayton provided care to its clients, although participation was very low. This year we served 963 kids through mid-March 2020.
