FORT WORTH PREGNANCY CENTER OFFERS PREGNANCY TESTING, LIMITED OB SONOGRAMS, STD TESTING AND TREATMENT, PRENATAL VITAMINS, MATERIAL ASSISTANCE, PEER COUNSELING, COMMUNITY REFERREALS, AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS.
PREGNANCY TESTING COUPLED WITH PEER COUNSELING; THROUGH THIS PROGRAM A YOUNG WOMAN RECEIVES A LABORATORY QUALITY PREGNANCY TEST, A PEER COUNSELOR TO EDUCATE HER ON ALL THE OPTIONS FOR HER PREGNANCY DECISION, AND RELIABLE MEDICAL INFORMATION ABOUT EARLY STAGES OF PREGNANCY. 1,663 PREGNANCY TESTS WERE PERFORMED IN 2019. 11,535 CONCEPTS WERE SHARED, INCLUDING PREGNANCY COMPLICATIONS AND TREATMENTS, STD EDUCATION, ADOPTION PLANNING, ABORTION EDUCATION, PRE-NATAL CARE INFORMATION, ABUSE PREVENTION & RECOVERY, RELATIONSHIP BUILDING, SPIRITUAL CONCEPTS AND CHURCH REFERRALS AS WELL AS MANY OTHERS. IN 2019, THE CENTER GAVE 400 REFERRALS FOR EMPLOYMENT OR EDUCATION/GED ASSISTANCE, 57 REFERRALS TO ADOPTION AGENCIES, 540 REFERRALS TO LOCAL CHURCHES, OVER 1,607 REFERRALS FOR HOUSING, FOOD OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, AND OVER 2,524 MEDICAL REFERRALS FOR PRENATAL, SUBSTANCE, OR COUNSELING PROGRAMS.
ULTRASONOGRAPHY FOR PREGNANCY TEST CONFIRMATION, WHICH INCLUDES GESTATIONAL DATING, PRESENCE OR ABSENCE OF FETAL HEART TONES, AND THE IDENTIFICATION OF A VIABLE PREGNANCY WITHIN THE UTERUS. THIS PROGRAM IS PROVIDED BY LICENSED REGISTERED NURSES AND RDMS PRACTITIONERS. IN 2019, OF THE MORE THAN 1,367 POSITIVE PREGNANCY TESTS, THE CENTER PROVIDED OVER 669 SONOGRAMS. 3,114 REFERRALS WERE GIVEN TO PRENATAL CARE PROVIDERS, MEDICAID, AND WIC ASSISTANCE. ALL CLIENTS ARE PROVIDED WITH INSTRUCTIONS REGARDING POTENTIAL SIGNS & SYMPTOMS OF MISCARRIAGE, WITH INSTRUCTIONS TO FOLLOW IN THE EVENT OF A NEGATIVE OUTCOME. FOLLOW UP CORRESPONDENCE TOTALED OVER 5,812 PHONE CALLS OR NOTES OF ENCOURAGEMENT.
MOBILE UNIT PROGRAM TAKES THE CLINICAL SERVICES OF THE FORT WORTH PREGNANCY CENTER OUT INTO THE COMMUNITY. THE INITIAL VISIT, PREGNANCY TEST, PEER COUNSELING AND SONOGRAM ARE THE SAME SERVICES AS LISTED ABOVE, PROVIDED ON AN RV EQUIPPED WITH AN EXAM ROOM AND SONOGRAM MACHINE. CLIENTS ARE THEN REFERRED TO THE PREGNANCY CENTER FOR FOLLOW UP CARE AND SUPPORT SERVICES. THE MOBILE UNIT SERVES AS AN EXTENSION OF THE PREGNANCY CENTER, PROVIDING THE SAME CLINICAL SERVICES (PREGNANCY TESTING, LAY COUNSEL & EDUCATION, AND ULTRASONOGRAPHY). LOCATIONS FOR THE SERVICES TO BE PROVIDED WERE BASED ON DEMOGRAPHIC AND STATISTICAL DATA RESEARCH AND ANALYSIS. MOBILE UNIT IS ALSO UTILIZED FOR HEALTH FAIRS IN THE COMMUNITY, PROVIDING FREE SERVICES AND INCREASING COMMUNITY AWARENESS. IN 2019, THE MOBILE HAD A TOTAL OF 261 CLIENT VISITS AND PERFORMED 62 SONOGRAMS.
