Organizations Filed Purposes: DEDICATED TO LIFELONG LEARNING AND ANCHORED BY OUR RICH COLLECTIONS, THE FORT WORTH MUSEUM OF SCIENCE AND HISTORY ENGAGES OUR DIVERSE COMMUNITY THROUGH CREATIVE, VIBRANT PROGRAMS AND EXHIBITS INTERPRETING SCIENCE AND THE STORES OF TEXAS AND THE SOUTHWEST.

THE MUSEUM OWNS AND MAINTAINS A COLLECTION OF OVER 175,000 SCIENTIFIC EXHIBITS AND HISTORICAL OBJECTS WITH AN EMPHASIS ON TEXAS AND THE SOUTHWEST. WE PROVIDE ENGAGING, INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES TO THE PUBLIC THAT INVOLVE POWERFUL, FIRST-HAND INFORMAL LEARNING THROUGH OUR EXHIBITIONS, INNOVATION GALLERY, INNOVATION STUDIOS, AND CHILDREN'S MUSEUM. THE MUSEUM FEATURES 50,000+ SQUARE FEET OF EXHIBITIONS ON TOPICS INCLUDING ENERGY, DINOSAURS AND SPACE EXPLORATION, AND PROVIDES HANDS-ON ACTIVITIES IN INNOVATION STUDIOS. IN 2019, THE MUSEUM WELCOMED 288,851 GUESTS, INCLUDING SCHOOL CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND GROUPS.

DISCOVERY LABS ON WHEELS PROVIDES PROGRAMMING TO A VARIETY OF AUDIENCES FROM SCHOOL CLASSROOMS TO COMMUNITY AND LIBRARY PROGRAMS. DLOW ALSO PROVIDES LIFE SCIENCE LECTURES TO RETIREMENT COMMUNITIES AND ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES, INCLUDING MEMORY CARE PATIENTS. THROUGH THIS PROGRAM, MUSEUM EDUCATORS TAKE MUSEUM ARTIFACTS FROM THE TEACHING COLLECTION TO THESE FACILITATES AND TALK TO THE RESIDENTS ABOUT THEM. ALL THE PROGRAMS HAVE CENTRAL THEMES (TEXAS SEASHORE, TRINITY RIVER ECOSYSTEM, POLLINATORS, ETC.). THIS PROGRAM IS A WONDERFUL WAY TO BRING A PART OF THE MUSEUM TO AN AUDIENCE THAT MAY HAVE A HARD TIME VISITING US. DURING FY 2019, DISCOVERY LAB ON WHEELS WENT TO OVER 60 DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, SERVING A TOTAL OF 10,313 CHILDREN / STUDENTS AND 2,066 ADULTS / TEACHERS.FAMILY MUSEUM NIGHTS PROVIDE SCHOOLS THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING THEIR FAMILIES TO THE MUSEUM FOR AN EXCLUSIVE VISIT. DURING FY 2019, 51 SCHOOLS VISITED THE MUSEUM WITH 15,388 IN ATTENDANCE. FAMILY STEAM FESTIVALS TRAVELS TO SCHOOL CAMPUSES BRINGING QUALITY EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES INTO THE SCHOOL FOR FAMILIES WHO MAY NOT BE ABLE TO ATTEND THE MUSEUM OTHERWISE. DURING FY 2019, THE MUSEUM BROUGHT STEM LEARNING FUN TO 45 SCHOOLS WITH 10,614 IN ATTENDANCE.

THE MUSEUM FOSTERS MULTIGENERATIONAL LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT WITH SCIENCE, HISTORY, CULTURE, AND THE HUMANITIES. IN THE OMNI IMAX THEATER THE MUSEUM PRESENTED EDUCATIONAL DOCUMENTARY FILMS SUCH AS SUPERPOWER DOGS, BACKYARD WILDERNESS, AND DOLPHINS PROVED HIGHLY POPULAR WITH OUR GUESTS. ADDITIONALLY, APOLLO 11 FIRST STEP EDITION PLAYED IN THE OMNI AND COMPLEMENTED LAUNCHPAD, A LARGE INTERNALLY-CREATED EXHIBIT ON DISPLAY IN THE MUSEUM. ATTENDANCE FOR THE OMNI DURING FY 2019 WAS 143,941.
