Organizations Filed Purposes: Organize and execute an annual prom for high-school-age homeschool students in the North Texas area. The prom is held in the DFW area, usually in a hotel. In addition to the prom, we offer at least 12 hours of dance instruction in the weeks before prom. The prom provides educational instruction on dance, dance etiquette, formal attire, and social graces. Additional educational opportunities vary with the theme, but may include history and geography. In 2014, biographies of several classic authors were on our website.

Provide an annual formal prom event for over 1300 homeschooled high school students and their guests in the North Texas area. Provide website, printed invitations, extensive decorations and activities, dinner, and dancing in a wholesome environment.

All activities related directly to the planning and execution of prom for over 1350 homeschooled high school students. We begin the year with a planning retreat to determine the overall organization for the upcoming prom, including theme, staffing, and orgnaizational changes. An adult leadership meeting follows in the fall or winter to review the plans for the upcoming prom and to identify any leadership needs. In the fall, we update our website with content changes, functional changes, and enhancements. Sales open in January for tickets and other prom items. Following ticket sales, we purchase decor for the ballroom, dining area, and prefunction. We design and build props for games and other activities in a series of workdays involving about 400 parent/adult volunteers. During those workdays we also put together printed materials such as invitations and programs. We store props and decor that can be used year-to-year, transport required items to the venue, set them up, then take them down after prom with another 200 volunteers. We served over 1600 students in 2015, including dinner, dancing, and other entertainment for the evening.

Dance Lessons. We offered 6 dance lessons at three different locations in 2015. The paid instructors taught swing, cha-cha, 2-step, Virginia Reel, and many other dances in 2 sessions at each location to about 150 youth per session. In addition, the instructors covered dance etiquette and gentlemanly/ladylike behavior on the dance floor. Dance etiquette tips are also offered on our website.
