Pediatric Mobile Clinic. Responding to the nearly 60,000 children in Tarrant County without health insurance, the UNT Health Science launched a state-of-the-art Pediatric Mobile Clinic in 2014 to deliver healthcare directly to these underserved children. The 52-foot motorcoach/clinic is staffed by an expert team consisting of a pediatrician, nurse, social worker, and intake coordinator. The team focuses on the four Fort Worth neighborhoods with the highest rate of uninsured families, hoping to decrease the reliance on hospital emergency rooms as the medical home to families in need of care.
UNTHSC Office of Professional and Continuing Education (PACE). This program registers more than 18,000 healthcare professionals at more than 600 activities in all areas of the United States each year. During its last accreditation cycle, UNTHSC received Accreditation with Commendation from the ACCME for its exemplary procedures and processes (Elements 2.2, 2.4 and 2.5) and full accreditation from the AOA. It is also accredited by the Texas Nurses Association (an ANCC approved provider) and the National Commission for Health Educator Credentialing (NCHEC), the organization which certifies health educators (CHES). Some recent accomplishments PACE has achieved include: Winner of the Alliance for Continuing Medical Education's (ACME) Most Outstanding Industry-Supported Certified CME activity, 2006. Winner of the Health & Science Communications Association (HeSCA) bronze medal in the CME category at its 2005 international conference in Seattle (2005). UNTHSC Professional and Continuing Education staff members regularly present at the AMA National Task Force for CME Provider/Industry Collaboration, the Texas Alliance for CME (TACME) annual meeting and the Alliance for CME (ACME); staff hold positions on regional and national ACME committees and member sections and sit on numerous community boards and councils.
