Organizations Filed Purposes: The IBC Network Foundation funds research for Inflammatory Breast Cancer and provides proactive education to the general public and the medical community regarding Inflammatory Breast Cancer.

The IBC Network Foundation is intensely focused on funding high-quality research regarding inflammatory breast cancer and triple-negative breast cancer. Inflammatory breast cancer is an orphaned form of breast cancer, due to its rareness and also due to the high fatally rate. Typically striking younger women, at a late stage presentation, 30% of women are also diagnosed as triple-negative. This combination is highly difficult to treat successfully. We have in 2019 funded four research projects and two clinical research supported projects. This year at MD Anderson's Morgan Welch Clinic for Inflammatory Breast Cancer we funded $75,000 for Dr. Jangsoon Lee's research to study and understand the inflammasome pathway and perform preclinical studies towards targeting this in inflammatory breast cancer. In addition to this at MD Andersons Morgan Welch Clinic for Inflammatory Breast Cancer, we funded $25,000 Dr. Anthony Luccis blood project entitled Developing Liquid Biopsy Profiles for Inflammatory Breast Cancer patients. At Ingrid-Vanderbilt we have an ongoing project of $50,000 for the researcher, Justin Balko, PdD, and his team for the study of now triple-negative and IBC interrelate to be completed funding in December of 2021. Also at Dana Farber and MD Anderson Cancer Center, we funded two projects with each clinic so they could use funds for a smaller project to be the gap funding needed to help foster smaller projects. Providing combined gap funding of $18,181.In addition to funding research, we have successfully mentored a new separate charity focused on inflammatory breast cancer in Australia. We are very proud of this, having now two charity mirror our message, separate from us but we have a stronger global voice due to a shared passion and willingness to work together. We have plans for an IBC Learning Academy to educate advocates and provide training to help share our message far and wide. This free course will be offered in the fall of 2020 worldwide and is with the support of MD Anderson in Houston, Texas.
