THE GRAPEVINE-COLLEYVILLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION GENERATES AND DISTRIBUTES RESOURCES TO THE GRAPEVINE-COLLEYVILLE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS THAT ENHANCES THE QUALITY OF EDUCATION AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS.
GRANTS WERE AWARDED FOR CLASSROOM, SCHOOL, OR DISTRICT WIDE PROJECTS WITHIN GCISD. THESE GRANTS ARE FUNDED BY ANNUAL CAMPAIGN DONATIONS, NET PROCEEDS FROM SPECIAL EVENTS, AND DONOR DESIGNATED CONTRIBUTIONS. GRANT PROPOSALS ARE EVALUATED BY A VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE OF BOARD MEMBERS AND COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS. GRANTS WERE MADE AS FOLLOWS: CLASSROOM EDUCATIONAL GRANTS 91,950 DONOR DIRECTED EDUCATIONAL GRANTS 102,144 DONOR FUNDED SCHOLARSHIPS 27,500 DISTRICT WIDE INITIATIVES 8,500 NEW TEACHER GRANTS 4,000 IN ADDITION TO THE GRANTS NOTED, THE FOUNDATION HOSTED TWO SPECIAL EVENTS. THE FIRST WAS A LUNCHEON TO WELCOME NEWLY HIRED TEACHERS. THE SECOND WAS AN ACADEMIC RECOGNITION BANQUET HONORING TOP RANKED GRADUATING SENIORS, DISTINGUISHED TEACHERS, AND THE GCISD TEACHERS AND PARAPROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR.
THE FOUNDATION MANAGES A PERMANENT ENDOWMENT TO SUPPORT CAMPUS ACTIVITIES, SCHOLARSHIPS, AWARDS, AND OTHER GRANT PROGRAMS. THE ENDOWMENT IS INVESTED IN PUBLICLY TRADED MARKETABLE SECURITIES MANAGED BY PROFESSIONAL INVESTMENT ADVISORS. AN INVESTMENT COMMITTEE MADE UP OF BOARD MEMBERS AND OTHER VOLUNTEERS HIRE THE INVESTMENT ADVISORS AND OVERSEE INVESTMENT AND SPENDING POLICIES. ENDOWMENT EARNINGS ARE UTILIZED FOR THE PURPOSES INTENDED BY THE DONORS. GRANTS WERE MADE AS FOLLOWS: CAMPUS SUPPORT (FOR ALL 19 CAMPUSES) 13,047 TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARDS 5,000 PARAPROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR AWARD 500
THE FOUNDATION ADMINISTERS A CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP/SPORTS MARKETING PROGRAM ON BEHALF OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICT.
