Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Arc of Greater Houston promotes and protects the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and actively supports their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes.
We provide life enhancing activities and experiences for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities; we support the structure and cohesion of families who have members with intellectural and developmental disabilities; we provide community outreach, education and awareness for the community
Through our Special Education Trainings and One-on-one Family Assistance, children with special needs in public schools, ages 3-21, received an appropriate education and were better prepared for post high school education, employment and independent living.
Through our inclusive Social/Recreational and Respite Prgrams, children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities had opportunities to participate fully in their commnities. In 2019 participants attended our summer camps and vacations. Participants also attended our monthly dances and our Holiday Gala "Candy Cane Ball". An average of 35 participants attended our monthly Adventure Club and Respite Programs.
