Organizations Filed Purposes:
The purpose of Construction Career Collaborative (C3) is to create a skilled and sustainable craft workforce by positively impacting the issues facing the craft worker in the commercial construction industry. C3 strives to make careers in the construction craft trades attractive by making certain that craft workers are paid employees, who receive a Form W-2, are eligible for overtime pay, are covered by workers compensation insurance, receive OSHA safety training as well as skills training linked to a career path.
The Construction Career Collaborative (C3) purpose is to educate and create a sustainable craft workforce by positively impacting the safety and livelihood issues facing the craft worker in the commercial construction industry.
Promote the financial security, health, and well-being of craft workers by with educational program awareness to Owner, Contractors and Specialty Contractors of questionable practices in the industry. Provide an accreditation program to educate Contractors and Specialty Contractors that agree and follow the same C3 principles.Teach safety principles on the construction projects by requiring and tracking safety training of craft workers by their employers for OSHA 10 and OSHA 30. Create and implement a safety refresher for craft workers already complying with OSHA 10 that are working on C3 designated construction projects. This safety refresher training is also available to any and all construction companies, regardless of C3 affiliation, free of charge.Consult with construction companies that employ craft workers, who have qualified for C3 Accredited Employer status, to assist them in developing craft training programs within their respective organizations that are linked to career paths. Assess the craft training programs of C3 Accredited Employers to measure and endorse, if earned, each company's skills training at three different levels based upon the quality of the individual training program. Emphasize and promote advantages to the industry when investments of craft worker training are made available. Establish database of craft workers with individual training credentials.
Host career events for high school and middle school students as a means to inform them of the career opportunities available to them in the craft trades of the commercial construction industry in the Greater Houston region. This included Construction Career Collaborative's first career fair, featuring twenty employers, that was attended by 189 graduating high school seniors in the spring of 2019. Additionally, in collaboration with the National Organization of Women in Construction and Aldine Independent School District, Construction Career Collaborative held an event for 1,100 high school and middle school girls in the fall of 2019 that featured 35 construction employers and construction-related organizations, entitled She Builds Houston.
