Eliot) featured 18 concerts at the Wortham Theater Center, Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, and the Menil Collection. The season opened in September with a rare Houston appearance by revered pianist Richard Goode. Other chamber music highlights included Tous les Matins du Monde, presented with Houston Early Music with Jordi Savall and Le Concert des Nations; Russian Renaissance, an electrifying ensemble redefining chamber music through a variety of genres; and Vienna 1900: In the Garden of Dreams, a multimedia production that explores the obsession with dreams and the unconscious in the music, visual art, psychology and theater of fin-de-sicle Vienna. The concert featured Abigail Fischer, mezzo-soprano, and baritone John Brancy. Additional classical performances included the Danish String Quartet, Ashberyana: A Musical Celebration of Poet John Ashbery, which includes works inspired by the late poet; Elias String Quartet performing two distinct programs that trace the history of British music; and The Veil of Orpheus: Cy Twombly and Music.Da Camera's Jazz Series: Da Cameras 2018-19 jazz series presented a signature mix of jazz greats and emerging artists. Among the highlights were Cuban pianist, composer, arranger and bandleader Chucho Valds, a key figure in the evolution of Afro-Cuban jazz over the past 50 years; pianist Aaron Diehl, the Jack DeJohnette Trio, and trumpeter and composer Dave Douglas presenting an unparalleled tribute to Dizzy Gillespie; and percussionist Pedrito Martinez and the Jazzmeia Horn Septet, starring the prodigious Texas-born vocalist Horn.

Education and Community Outreach Programming: Da Camera presented a variety of programs to increase the audience and enhance the appreciation of chamber music and jazz beyond the concert hall. Programs included the Da Camera Young Artist Program (a career development program for instrumentalists, vocalists and composers), A Little Day Music (free downtown lunchtime concerts on the first Wednesday of each month), in-school educational programs tailored for each classroom and facilitated by Young Artists and teaching musicians, master classes with touring artists and pre-concert lectures, among others. Da Camera presented 90 community concerts at venues such as Museum of Fine Arts Houston, the Menil Collection, Discovery Green, and over 350 hours of in-school educational activities, all which collectively reached nearly 30,000 children and adults.
