Dawn Mountain modernizes Tibetan Buddhist foundational trainings on love, trust, connectedness, and joyful appreciation of life that mirrors Buddhism's sense of original wisdom and teaches them to people of all ages. We seek to inspire all we engage with to develop these skills for enhanced living, particularly mindfulness and compassion.
Dawn Mountain nurtures the spiritual growth of a diverse international community as a living bridge between traditional Tibetan Buddhist teachings and curious people everywhere by teaching methods that reduce stress and help integrate compassion into our lives.
As the largest portal for authentic Tibetan thought, practice, and meditation in Houston, Dawn Mountain teaches students locally in person and globally online via weekend workshops, lectures, classes, and regular meetings archived for asynchronous viewing on YouTube. Programs are attended by a wide spectrum of ethnic, socio-economic, and religiously-affiliated adults, teens, and children. Approximately 1,766 people were served in 2019. As our programs grow, they are archived online on YouTube. The annual viewership has increased from 23,300 views in 2016 to 31,161 views in 2019. The Research Institute supports translation, archiving, and preservation for crucial parts of the Tibetan tradition in Western Languages with practice texts translated into chant-able English. We provide subsidies for people who are unable to pay for programs.
