Organizations Filed Purposes:
With promoting the importance of education at its core, the mission and purpose of the Corporation is to support and promote all aspects of early childhood development and education and raise awareness about the importance of early childhood development and education. More specifically, Early Matters will serve as the backbone organization of a broader coalition of volunteers, businesses, civic leaders, educational organizations, and philanthropic and other nonprofit organizations working together to raise awareness about the importance of high quality early education and to emphasize increased investment in early education.
Early Matters is dedicated to finding solutions for enhancing the quality of young childrens learning and development.
Early Childhood Education Collaborations. Early Matters' primary activity is the facilitation of six (6) Working Groups with targeted sub goals to foster change in early childhood development and education. In addition to commission relevant research and data analysis, the working groups achieve outcomes including:1. Early Childhood Education Family Education & SupportExamine ways to coordinate efforts and support for increasing the number of high-quality early childcare centers and certified teachers in the region.2. Family Education and SupportExamine ways to coordinate efforts and support among coalition partners to encourage early learning focused on reading.3. Health Systems SupportExamine ways to coordinate efforts and support among pediatric-serving medical offices to encourage early learning focused on reading.4. Pre-Kindergarten Education Examine ways to coordinate efforts and support among education providers toward full enrollment of Pre-K in the region and encourage efforts to promote Pre-K readiness for young children.5. Kindergarten through 3rd Grade EducationExamine ways to coordinate efforts and support among education providers toward kindergarten readiness for young children and encourage efforts to promote reading on-level by third grade.6. Legislative & Policy Examine ways to coordinate communication and support among coalition partners toward those legislative or public policy efforts that impact kindergarten readiness for young children reading on-level by third grade.
Educational Events: Early Matters hosts events to bring together members of various sectors to better understand and collaborate around systems of support for early childhood education. Events this year included a literacy summit, a childcare provider jamboree.
