Organizations Filed Purposes:
To provide rent-free lodging to out-of-town (outside of 50 mile radius of Houston) patients, who are receiving long-term medical treatment from an of the medical facilities in the Houston Medical Center. We provide lodging to approx 20% of the guests who put their names on our wait list. Our guests come from: Texas 49%, States bordering Texas (LA, AR, OK, NM) 18%. Remaining (44) states 27%. We also provide lodging for people from 68 foreign countries, comprising 6% of our stays. In 2019, our 46 apartments were occupied for a total of 12,663 days. This works out to a .75 usage rate for each apartment. The figure was low for us and can be attributed to the large number of apartments that were out-of-service during our rehab project. When completed in June 2020, our apartments will have walk-in showers, new counter tops, new flooring and new painting. Still to do: update televisions and information technology.
