Organizations Filed Purposes:
The purpose of Houston Downtown Improvement, Inc. is to develop and maintain an effective force to improve the quality of life for all people involved in any way with the area of downtown Houston, Texas.
Theater District Open House is an annual event held in late August. The event is free to the public and includes performances, back stage tours, interactive exhibits, and culminates in a symphony performance at the end of the day. The goal of the event is to raise awareness of and familiarity with the Theater District as a whole, and to encourage patronage of the Theater District.
HDIs initiatives support the advancement of the Theater District as a world-class cultural destination. To increase awareness of our resident performing arts companies, HDI produces content for Downtown Magazine every quarter. These features tell the stories behind the performances, about the District and people in it. Distribution of Downtown Magazine has increased to 50,000. HDI's newest website, theaterdistricthouston.org, was created to help increase unique page views in addition to that of the district's informational page on downtownhouston.org, with a specific goal of introducing downtown residents to the possibility of becoming theater patrons.
