Organizations Filed Purposes:
THE IFMA FOUNDATION WORKS FOR THE PUBLIC GOOD IN SUPPORT OF THE FACILITY MANAGEMENT (FM) PROFESSION, FM HIGHER EDUCATION, STUDENTS STUDYING FM AND OTHER RELATED PROFESSIONS PERTAINING TO THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT. THE FOUNDATION WORKS TO INCREASE AWARENESS OF THE PROFESSION AND ENCOURAGES FM AS A CAREER OF CHOICE.
SUPPORT SCHOLARSHIPS, EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES FOR FACILITIES MANAGEMENT.
GRANTS OF SCHOLARSHIPS TO 22 STUDENTS STUDYING TO ENTER THE FM PROFESSION WERE MADE IN 2018-19. IN ADDITION TO A MONETARY AWARD TO HELP OFFSET THE COSTS OF EARNING THEIR FM RELATED DEGREE, SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENTS WERE ALSO AWARDED TRAVEL AND RELATED EXPENSES TO PARTICIPATE IN IFMA'S WORLD WORKPLACE ANNUAL CONFERENCE AND EXPOSITION. BY PARTICIPATING IN THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE, STUDENTS ARE EXPOSED TO BEST PRACTICES IN THE PROFESSION, LEARN OF THE NEWEST TECHNOLOGIES AND BUILD THEIR PROFESSIONAL NETWORK. AS A RESULT, STUDENTS ARE BETTER EQUIPPED TO IMPLEMENT SUSTAINABLE PRACTICES, INCREASED WORK PRODUCTIVITY, WELLNESS AND COST SAVINGS TO THEIR ORGANIZATIONS.
ACCREDITATION OF FACILITY MANAGEMENT DEGREES IS A KEY COMPONENT OF THE IFMA FOUNDATION'S SUPPORT OF THE FM PROFESSION AND FM HIGHER EDUCATION. THE FM ADP PROGRAM ADMINISTERED BY THE FACILITY MANAGEMENT ACCREDITATION COMMISSION, ENSURES STUDENTS, EMPLOYER AND OTHER CONSTITUENTS THAT THE FM CURRICULUM AT ACCREDITED INSTITUTIONS INCLUDES INSTRUCTION ON ALL 11 CORE COMPETENCIES OF THE FM PROFESSION WITH STUDENT OUTCOMES APPROPRIATE TO THE LEVEL OF DEGREE EARNED. MORE THAN 6,000 STUDENTS WERE ENROLLED IN FM ACCREDITED DEGREE PROGRAMS IN 2018-19 WORLDWIDE.
IFMA FOUNDATION CREATED TWO NEW GWI PROGRAMS INCLUDING: FM TALENT DEVELOPMENT PIPELINE PROGRAMS (TDP) AT THE COMMUNITY LEVEL WHICH CONSIST OF STUDENTS LEARNING THE ESSENTIALS OF FM (EOFM), A CAREER CONNECTIONS EVENT, A JOB SHADOWING PROGRAM, A PAID INTERNSHIP, AND A CAPSTONE IGNITEFM! STUDENT COMPETITION. THE FIRST PROGRAM WAS LAUNCHED IN JANUARY THROUGH A CONTRACT WITH DENVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND OPPORTUNITY (DEDO). FM CONTRACT EDUCATION PROGRAM WAS INITIATED WHERE CUSTOMIZED EDUCATION IS BROUGHT DIRECTLY TO ORGANIZATIONS THROUGH THE IFMA FOUNDATION AND HIGHER-ED INSTITUTIONS. THE FIRST PILOT WAS SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED WITH GOOGLE, CUSHMAN & WAKEFIELD AND CALIFORNIA COMMUNITY COLLEGES AND IS NOW IN ITS THIRD PHASE.
