The mission of Literacy Advance is to transform lives and communities through the doorway of literacy.
Literacy Advance provides free English, literacy, computer and work readiness programs to adults in the Greater Houston community. Classes, led by trained volunteers, focus on student life skills, self-sufficiency and whole family literacy.
The four primary services offered are Adult Basic Education (ABE), English as a Second Language (ESL), Family Literacy, and Transition Coaching. Further Supportive programming for learners includes English conversation, computer literacy and special classes related to job readiness, numeracy, health, financial literacy, civics and other relevant topics.
On November 9th, 2018, the organization transferred its net assets and operations to another nonprofit organization. See Schedule N.
