The purpose of the Mary L. and William J. Osher Foundation, stated in its most general way, is the advancement of the human condition. In more particular terms, as part of its mission, the Foundation will consider the use of its assets for the attainment of advancements relating to the following fields: 1. Human rights 2. Human health 3. Education 4. Maintenance of peace and individual equanimity 5. Further development of the fruits of civilization such as arts and technical development.

The Mary L. & William J. Osher Foundation accomplishes these goals by awarding grants to charitable, educational, and religious organizations.
