Organizations Filed Purposes: To serve the community by celebrating the power of music, Baroque and beyond, teaching, sharing, and presenting with passion, intimacy and excellence.

Performances: Mercury reached over 20,000 through its performances in 2019-2020. Mercury offers a wide variety of concert series, touching the entire Houston community. From its acclaimed flagship series at the Wortham Center to its community concerts around the greater Houston area to its annual free concert at Miller Outdoor Theater. Mercury's Neighborhood Series brings casual, affordable, and intimate performances to four distinct neighborhoods: The Woodlands, Memorial, Museum District, and Midtown. These are hour-long performances without intermission and are designed to be accessible to audiences of all walks of life. Mercury's passionate and accessible performances of diverse repertoire are designed to be enjoyed by all. The orchestra is known for its vibrant signature sound and its use of period instruments. Mercury also regularly collaborates with other area organizations, from dance ensembles to fine dining restaurants, to form concert and entertainment experiences that are truly unique.Mercury canceled performances in March, April, and May of 2020 due to Covid-19 and stay-at-home orders. We resumed performances for a small in-person audience in October 2020 and streamed all concerts live. The cancelation of performances has a significant impact on earned revenue.

Education has been an important part of Mercury's mission since day one. The orchestra is proud to educate and inspire both students and adults with groundbreaking music education programs. Mercury's teaching residencies and curriculum-based concerts in local schools and under-served community centers, along with community concerts designed for children and families, have reached over 3,000 children in the 2019-2020 Season. Mercury's music education programs help foster a positive group environment for students to develop their self-esteem and build pathways that connect their academic learning with musical experiences. Adult audiences enjoy Mercury's regular pre-concert lecture series, offering insight into each concert program's historical and musical context and attended by over 1000 individuals in 2019-2020.Mercury canceled education programs in March, April, and May of 2020 due to Covid-19 and stay-at-home orders. Music Recordings and Online Resources: The orchestra's critically acclaimed recordings are a powerful resource, allowing Mercury to impact the lives of more listeners in Houston, the state, the nation, and abroad with its period music sound. Mercury released a new CD in November 2015, Sammartini, Locatelli, Torelli & Corelli: Christmas Concertos, and now has eight CD releases. CD sales are occurring at concerts and through the Mercury website. Social media creates new channels to interact with patrons worldwide and other Houston arts organizations, hotels, restaurants, and tourist destinations. We have also reached over 20,000 users through our website.
