The Printing Museum is comprised of multiple galleries featuring permanent and temporary exhibitions. The selection of objects on display in the museum's permanent gallery spaces demonstrate how printing has significantly contributed to the development of civilization-transforming our lives to the present day. Exhibitions in 2018 included "An American Visual Language: Specimens of Historic Wood Type" which explored wood as a tool for printing text, and "Of Birds & Texas: The Art of Stuart and Scott Gentling" which highlighted selections from the artists bird series work, printed as offset lithographs.
The Museum of Printing History offers workshops that teach individuals about the tools, skills, traditions, and processes associated with different historical and contemporary printing technologies. Through hands-on learning and education the museum provides an understanding of and access to different forms of communication and self-expression. In our increasingly digital world, we believe that understanding the impact of past technologies and how they continue to be used, revived, and integrated into our digital society is valuable and empowering to the individual and the community.
