Organizations Filed Purposes: TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF PERSONS LIVING WITH A MENTAL ILLNESS THROUGH SUPPORT, EDUCATION AND ADVOCACY.

SUPPORT 2,353 PEOPLE PARTICIPATED IN OUR SUPPORT GROUPS. OUR 19 FAMILY SUPPORT GROUPS INCLUDE FOUR OFFERED IN SPANISH, AND THREE IN MANDARIN CHINESE. THE 19 GROUPS HOLD 48 SESSIONS PER MONTH AND AVERAGE 10 TO 20 PARTICIPANTS IN EACH GROUP PER MONTH. OUR 12 CONNECTION SUPPORT GROUPS OFFER 27 SESSIONS PER MONTH AVERAGING SIX PARTICIPANTS PER MONTH. TWO GROUPS ARE CLOSED GROUPS FOR TARGET POPULATIONS - PARENTS OF JUVENILES ON PROBATION, AND WOMEN WITH CHILDREN LIVING IN TRANSITIONAL RESIDENTIAL FACILITIES. IN EAST HOUSTON, WE HAVE A SPANISH-SPEAKING SUPPORT GROUP FOR FAMILY MEMBERS AT THE MAGNOLIA MULTI-SERVICE CENTER. IN FORT BEND, WE HAVE 2 SPANISH-SPEAKING SUPPORT GROUP AT THE UNITED WAY ON SATURDAY MORNINGS. WE PROVIDE SUPPORT PROGRAMS TO THE SPRING BRANCH INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. WE TRAINED MORE THAN 200 WRAPAROUND COUNSELORS IN HOUSTON INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT. WE HAVE ONE FAMILY SUPPORT GROUP WHICH MEETS MONTHLY FOR YOUTH AND THEIR PARENTS WHO HAVE ACTIVE CASES WITH THE HARRIS COUNTY JUVENILE PROBATION DEPARTMENT. WE ALSO HAVE A PARTNERSHIP TO HOST CONNECTION SUPPORT GROUPS AT SANTA MARIA HOSTEL, A TRANSITIONAL RESIDENTIAL FACILITY, TO SERVE WOMEN WITH DUAL DIAGNOSES. WE SERVED MORE THAN 700 PERSONS IN RECOVERY AND MORE THAN 100 FAMILY MEMBERS THROUGH OUR JAIL DIVERSION INITIATIVE AND IN CRISIS CARE CLINICS. WE FIELDED 2,304 WARM LIVE CALLS FOR OUR SEA CENTER - PROVIDING NAVIGATION, REFERRAL AND COMPASSIONATE LISTENING. EDUCATION WE HAVE 37 FREE EDUCATION COURSES. WE TRAINED AND CERTIFIED 80 NEW PROGRAM LEADERS AND 16 FAMILY TO FAMILY TEACHERS. WE HAVE PARTNERED WITH SPRING BRANCH ISD TO OFFER THE PARENTS AND TEACHERS AS ALLIES PROGRAM IN ENGLISH AND SPANISH. WE ALSO HOST NAMI FAMILY & FRIENDS SEMINARS AND NAMI'S BASES Y FUNDAMENTOS COURSES. IN SPRING BRANCH ISD, ALL TUTORS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND NAMI PARENTS AND TEACHERS AS ALLIES TRAINING AS A REQUISITE TO VOLUNTEERING WITHIN THE SCHOOL DISTRICT. WE PARTNERED WITH THE WOMEN'S HOME TO HOST REGULAR CLASSES AT THE MABEE WHOLELIFE SERVICE CENTER. NAMI SIGNATURE PROGRAMS HAVE BEEN INCORPORATED INTO STATE MANDATED SCHOOL SAFETY PLANS FOR GOOSE CREEK, CYPRESS FAIRBANKS, HOUSTON AND FORT BEND SCHOOL DISTRICTS. IN THE AREA OF FAITH-BASED PROGRAMMING NAMI GREATER HOUSTON HAS DEVELOPED A COALITION AMONG AFRICAN-AMERICAN CHURCHES AND NON-PROFITS CALLED THE "GREATER HOUSTON COLLABORATIVE." ON REQUEST, NAMI GREATER HOUSTON PROVIDES PROGRAMMING TO SUPPORT FAMILIES, SCHOOLS, AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAMS AND EVENTS PLANNED THROUGHOUT THE YEAR BY THESE ORGANIZATIONS. NAMI GREATER HOUSTON PROVIDES IN OUR OWN VOICE, NAMI PROGRAMS AND OUTREACH PRESENTATIONS. WE PROVIDED FEATURE PRESENTERS AT THE PRESERVING COMMUNITIES OF COLOR CONFERENCE. WE SERVE THE INDIGENT BY OFFERING AT LEAST TWO PEER-TO-PEER COURSES PER YEAR; ONE AT THE BRISTOW-PATH CLINIC FOR THE HOMELESS AND A SECOND AT THE PEERS FOR HOPE HOUSE WHICH IS A SHORT-TERM LIVING FACILITY FOR ADULTS LIVING WITH A MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGE. WE AGREED TO BE A LEAD PROVIDER OF CLIENTS TO THE NETWORK OF BEHAVIOR HEALTH PROVIDER'S INITIATIVE CALLED, THE C3 PROJECT, TO COORDINATE DATA AND CARE MANAGEMENT IN TWO UNDERSERVED NEIGHBORHOODS IN HOUSTON. WE WERE DESIGNATED AS THE LEAD FAMILY COORDINATOR ON A FEDERAL GRANT SUBMITTED BY BAYLOR AND TEXAS CHILDREN'S HOSPITALS TO BETTER SERVE DISADVANTAGED YOUTH. WE PROVIDED MENTAL HEALTH TRAINING AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT FOR SHELL OIL, CRANE WORLDWIDE, TELEDYNE, METROTRANSIT, JACOB ENGINEERING, UNITED HEALTHCARE, THE HOUSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY, THE HARRIS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON DOWNTOWN. WE CONDUCT PEER CLASSES AT THE HARRIS CENTER'S HEADQUARTERS FOR CLIENTS SERVED THROUGH THEIR CLINIC. WE PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF TWO BASICS COURSES FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN DIAGNOSED AND SERVED THROUGH THE HARRIS CENTER AND 40 IN OUR OWN VOICE PRESENTATIONS PER YEAR FOR ADULTS WORKING TOWARDS RECOVERY AND THEIR FAMILIES. WE OPERATE NAMI IN THE LOBBY AT THE REGIONAL OFFICES AND THE HEADQUARTERS OF THE HARRIS CENTER. WE PROVIDE REFERRAL SERVICES IN THE ELIGIBILITY OFFICES AT HARRIS CENTER HEADQUARTERS (SERVING CHILDREN, ADOLESCENTS AND ADULTS) AND THROUGHOUT HARRIS CENTER REGIONAL CLINICS. ADVOCACY WE GAVE 72 IN OUR OWN VOICE PRESENTATIONS TO SCHOOL GROUPS AND LOCAL MENTAL HEALTH PROVIDERS. WE JOINED WITH PARTNERS IN CONFERENCES, SYMPOSIUMS, COLLABORATIVES AND COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIRS TO INCREASE COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND COUNTER DISCRIMINATION. WE JOINED WITH CORPORATE PARTNERS TO PROMOTE STIGMA FREE INITIATIVES. WE HOSTED 82 HEALTH FAIRS, REACHING 7,701 CITIZENS. WE PARTICIPATED IN CRISIS INTERVENTION TRAINING FOR DETENTION OFFICERS AND NEW CADETS IN COUNTY AND LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES. WE PROVIDED EDUCATION INFORMATION TO THE HARRIS COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE. WE PROVIDED OUR NAMI SIGNATURE PROGRAMS WITHIN THE ED EMMETT JAIL DIVERSION CENTER. WE PARTICIPATE IN THE FORT BEND COUNTY "STEP UP PROGRAM" WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE. WE PRESENTED A LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD TO FRANK WEBB FOR HIS OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTIONS TO CRISIS INTERVENTION WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT.
